Home is a very important part for any ones lives. For the Rickett family their home is one of the few sources of pleasure in their lives. Their hearth is covered with interesting and beautiful pieces of paper, collected from newspapers and magazines. This ties their almost isolated home in with the rest of society. There are people drinking cola and dressing in new and fashionable clothes, all dreams that will never come true to these enduring people. The Ricketts merely tenant their home, sharing parts of their crop with their landlord, but with artifacts like these delicate pictures, it becomes more than just a wooden box to sleep at night, but home.
